This series has been fantastic viewing, but damn, top of the 5th at 10pm is rough.  If they can't get game time under control, then why not start the games at 7?   If they are going to be 4 hours long, the good parts of the game will still be in prime time on the west coast.

Tv ratings. They think 8-11 is the most important time.

It’s a shame Tampa has no fans. Every game is like a home game for the Dodgers.

I guess I'm just getting old, or need to move back to mountain time  :old:

Nats postseason games last year were every bit as long, IIRC...

I'm sure.  I'd guess the NL rule games would have been a little shorter.   I'll stay up until whenever to watch my team.   There's a limit to when I stay up for a neutral game.

Wow, that was a ballsy move.  I kind of think he made it.  Weird no challenge.  What's the call if they tag the helmet as it leaves the head?
Looked like he tug the hand just before it got there.

Looks like the ump made the right call to me

The Sunday Night football games start at 8:20. That seems crazy too.

When I lived in Wisconsin watching sports was so much easier. Central or Mountain time would be ideal.

Even if they could get away from 8pm games starting at 8:20, I'd be good.   Start the telecast at 7:30 and actually start the games at 8, and my old ass won't complain (as much).

Does the NFL games seem a factor here ?

Not sure what you mean? Both games started at about the same time.

Treinen 3 days in a row sounds like an impending lead change to me.

If LA shortstop was in normal place, he would have had that grounder

Really feels like it’s just time for LA to do it.

I instinctively cheer against the Dodgers, but I don't think they are cheaters, and they're not really about buying the world series (Mookie was a good value anomaly.)   I guess I can be ok with an NL World Series winning streak taking place.

Whatever happens the next two days, it sure doesn't look like the winner of this World Series will have to worry about any kind of asterisk, as some were saying about a shortened season + expanded playoff.

I think both with the Lightning and with the Dodgers, you have two teams who had issues potentially related to pressure despite their talent level not have to go through a full normal grind with rival fans and travel etc. Here, there’s been a completely different dynamic, first in empty parks, and now in a neutral park, but with essentially the same sparse fan presence night after night.

Given the difference in sports is often momentum and is full of psychological factors, I don't see how that doesn’t factor into how people will look at it. I don’t think people will harp on it quite to the same degree as the Astros earned, because each team played the games that were in front of them - – except when they were sidelined for covid quarantines along the way. However, if either team gets another one in the next couple years, I definitely will wonder if they ever would’ve gotten over the hump and gotten the monkeys on their backs had seasons played out in standard ways.

You could argue the flip side of that: the Dodgers advanced far into the playoffs (and likely will win the World Series) despite not having the home field advantage they otherwise would have enjoyed throughout every level of the playoffs.

I think if, say, the Reds had won the World Series after bouncing superior teams in the shortened first two rounds of the playoffs, you would hear a lot of people harping on the 2020 playoffs being somehow illegitimate.

The World Series are basically all home games for the Dodgers.
