a ryan zinke op ed? Are you kidding me? What, you couldn't find something by James Watt or Becky Dunlop?
I looked it up. He has a degree in geology.  Combine that with being a Navy Seal and he’s obviously an expert on forestry.

Yep. About as long as people have ignored or dismissed science.

Speaking of antiquity, it’s notable that some traditional practices were more science-supported than bureaucratic policies in the west and evidently down under that literally add fuel to the fire:

Just heard the governor of Washington say that just what burned in the last five days equals the second worst entire season in state history. :(
