well, I guess Wilmington is the east side of Delaware but the west side of the Delaware.

Still struggling mightily in Wilmington. .195/.272/.268 with 1 HR and 3 2B in 22 games. He does have 9 steals so I think his speed may have been undersold by scouts, he has 35 SB on the season.

It's not too disheartening that he is struggling at a ne level, but it's a nice reminder of how important the Soto trade was for our farm system. Before that trade, DLR was arguably the most important bat in the farm system behind House and he's hitting below .200 in A+..

Welcome to Harrisburg!
I spent a month in Harrisburg one week.

On a more serious note, shame they closed this place.

Assigned to AA.  Will play all OF spots. Davey praises his patience.

Quote
De La Rosa joined the Nats in big league camp after being protected in the Rule 5 Draft. He had added muscle -- “A good kind of big, it didn’t slow him down,” said Martinez -- and was lauded for his high energy and work ethic.

“The biggest thing for me is, he really understands that he needs to take his walks and not chase,” said Martinez. “That’s something that he worked on really hard. Last year, he improved a lot. So hopefully, he continues to improve.”
...
“We’ve got an abundance of outfielders in our organization, but we feel like he’s right there with all those guys,” Martinez said. “We’ll get him going. For him, it’s just about him getting his reps, getting him comfortable.”

decent so far this year in Wilmington: .265   .362   .394 with 7 SBs and 3HRs in 132 ABs.

I'm not sure why he's at Wilmington. He was assigned to Harrisburg in ST, then put on the reserve list in March and assigned to Wilmington in early April. He did not play at all for Harrisburg.

while FG really soured on him in the piece on the system, mostly due to K rate, it seems he's really been crushing it since the start of May:

.314 / .402 / .510, with a 148 wRC+.  BABIP is unreal (.483), but the K rate is back down to 33.3% after being in the 40s earlier.

comes in at #29 in the system.

De La Rosa has had long-documented swing-and-miss issues, but it’s still surprising that things have cratered as badly as they have early in 2023, especially considering he already got a taste of High-A at the end of 2022. He’s striking out in nearly 40% of his plate appearances and has a slash line supported by an unsustainable BABIP as of list publication. De La Rosa is getting absolutely worked by breaking balls, including many that don’t finish anywhere near the zone. You expect a player’s strikeout rates to trend up as they climb the minors, but the degree to which things have increased here (De La Rosa had a 25% K% and 147 wRC+ repeating Low-A last year, and a 28% K% in the final month at High-A) is troubling. Does De La Rosa have an adjustment in him? Breaking ball recognition isn’t something you can fix with a mechanical tweak. De La Rosa still takes a really healthy rip and he’s only 21, and I want to stay on plus lefty power like this a while longer.

that I think protects him from the minor league phase of rule 5. After not advancing above A+ last year, this isn't a surprise. Curious if that means a signing is imminent or whether it's just opening space for Herz et al.

My bet is that Herz takes his spot
