"I've been in baseball a long time, and you can count one hand the people who are straight-shooters and loyal." - F.P. Santangelo

What a damning indictment of the sport!

Straight shooting and loyalty often conflict so I don’t know what that even means.

Netting fails to protect one of the cutouts.

I suppose it means FP is given to hyperbole and meaningless puffery, so he definitely does not count among the straight-shooters himself.

EDIT: also, one could argue that true loyalty does require straight-shooting; otherwise it is just sycophancy.

But he is loyal - to keeping his job.

My edit above applies, I suppose. Most of these team analysts do tend toward sycophancy.

I repeat - FP has said Freeman likes the ball low in the zone -  NATS don't believe that and hope for a ground ball.

I like that Holt seems to be turning it around, but calling him a .300 hitter as a Nat is pretty much the definition of the small-sample-size issue.
