I don't have the same dislike for FP that many of you do, but I have to say that it is really annoying when he makes excuses for this team that apply equally well to every other team. Every team lacks the cheers of home fans to fire them up, or for that matter the jeers of away fans. Every team has players distracted by other concerns and annoying hoops to jump through while travelling, training or just walking on and off the field. Every team had their routines interrupted and had to rush to get back into form.

So, the last time the Nats lost seven in a row was 2009, right?

When was the last time they lost 8 straight, because I think it's getting ready to happen?

I understand that not all draft picks work out but why did the Nats draft sort tossers like Fedde and Crowe so high?  At least draft guys who can throw upper 90s.

Because Fedde was scouted at low to mid 90s with movement, a plus slider, and a decent change up.

Upper 90s from starters is not all that common, even today. It's certainly not that common in college. Fedde isnt a soft tosser.

He is now.  Not a good pick unless we want to blame it on bad player development.

EDIT:  this said his fastball lacked movement and his change up was below average.
