I suppose it is easy for me to second-guess from the comfort of my couch, but I don't understand why some of the hitters are swinging early in counts, given the difficulty Marlins' pitchers are having with finding the strike-zone.

Just did a little advance stats look at Finnegan.  Going into today, he led all relievers in soft contact % (out of 207), he's a 9 K/9, and he's had zero barrels all year.  25th in hard contact %, so I'm not quite sure about that w/o barrels.
