I recall reading somewhere that most MLB baseballs came from Haiti. Who knew that Rawlings and les Ton Tons Macoutes did business.
But that was a) years ago and b) probably not true.
I had also heard that, but Wikipedia says the current MLB ball is made in Costa Rica.
I am somewhat more surprised by the lack of more Haitian-American players. My high school in Palm Beach County, for example, has long had both a strong baseball program and a large Haitian population. It seems like there should be other South Florida schools similarly situated. Minor bit of trivia: signs in my old school are now quadrilingual - English, Spanish, Creole and Mayan.
