Lopez had been looking pretty good in relief. Maybe that's why he had little success as a starter in Milwaukee and KC, running into trouble more times through an order.

My dad did 20 there in the puzzle palace. He took me to lunch at the O Club one week day. Downstairs they had pole dancers (Pasties and g strings) whilst everyone munched their burgers. Made for a nice lunch. :crackup:

When I first went to the O Club at Fort Benning, one of the senior officers told us they had dancers there too until the late 1980s.

Our excursions would’ve been late 70’s. I always marveled at the countless numbers of barracks from WWII that were all over the place.

Barracks at Ft. Jackson in the '70's were from WWI...with wood or coal fired heat systems that were only attended during the heat of the day...not at night.  Typical SNAFU...

I'm trying to flush out mitlen.  :mg:

This is from the NPS website;

Some of the typical elements of the army’s WW II buildings include:
1. Long, rectangular shape
2. Gable roof
3. Horizontal wood siding
4. “aqua medias” (the 1st story projecting overhang) which provide protection from rain
5. Multi-paned, double-hung windows. GGNRA, NPS

Some of our barracks in Germany were pre-WWI Imperial Army Kasernen, and were much better built than the other barracks which were legacies of the 1930s expansion of the Wehrmacht. They stayed pretty cool in summer, but unfortunately they stayed pretty cool in winter.

Around Potsdam, they've converted a lot of the old Prussian Guard Kasernen into fairly nice condos and apartments. Yet in other parts of the former East Germany you can still find unrepaired bomb-damaged buildings from WWII.

Still a few years away.

Those Quonset huts were all over West Palm Beach when I was a kid, especially around PBIA, which was an Army Airfield in the 1940s.

3Ks and a Homer will be the title of Max's autobiography some day.
I think "Emptying the Tank" will be the alternate title.

So, if a veteran pitcher at some point earns the benefit of the doubt in exercising his own judgment as to whether he can stay in the game, at what point does a manager become veteran enough that he gets to exercise his judgment and pull the veteran pitcher?
