If the Lerners were that concerned with money, then this was the perfect time to trade Kendrick, Cabrera, Hudson, Gomes, and Suzuki.
What about the buyers taking on the debt? With the uncertain gate return of fans and future of MLB the other owners might not have wanted to take on any additional debt at this time even if the Lerners wanted to unload them.

How many Chargers are really out there with manual trannies?  The choreography seems off.

When your team is as old as the Nats, most of it is a one year investment. Guys like Howie, Cabrera, Thames, Eaton, ect are at the age in sports where long term performance is not guaranteed, and can vary greatly from year to year.

And MAT.   But this is the first time I've ever felt sentimental about a team.   Unfortunately, the current situation is insufferable.

Marlins?

83-79 in 2004

54- 108 in 1998 .333 winning %

This year the Nats are 12-21 with a .364 winning %

We aren't far behind.

I blame it soley on Rizzo and his utter failure to build a BP. It cost us at least one title already. It's painful to see the revolving door of relievers that leave here because they were putrid only to have success elsewhere..

Who cares about this season anyways? Tank for the #1 pick. We won it all last year.  Im good for about a decade :)

Marlins won the WS in 97, were the worst team in baseball in 98

:lmao:  The Nats have the third worst starter ERA in baseball. While the pen hasnt been lights out, it's been fine. The inability to have a starter who can get through 6 innings is crushing this team right now.

didn't the Twins do it, too.   Red Sox in 2014 were worst in the division but only got the #7  pick overall, taking Benintendi IIRC.
