Food for thought: Trea Turner is better than Eaton when we traded for Eaton.

I'm only trading Turner for an absolute monster haul

You're gonna lose him eventually...may as well get what you can for him when the time is right.

Yep. Best time will probably be next year's deadline, or that offseason. But I doubt much will happen in the offseason because of the CBA

Why can't we extend Turner?

We have him through the end of the 2022 season. No need yet.

Best to wait.  I'm sure he will give us a hometown discount.   :hysterical:

I have a pseudo inside source that claims we are shopping Kendrick. Don't shoot the messenger.

Teams talking to the #Nationals have made it clear: They're looking to buy today.

They've asked about a wide range of available starters.

A name that could fit: Robbie Ray. Drafted by the Nats in the 12th round of the 2010 Bryce Harper draft. Later dealt for Doug Fister.

Reasonable to explore the market.  Option for next year, so it is a bit less likely, but anyone on an expiring contract is likely being shopped.

we're what, 3 games back of the WC with 29 to play?  We still have a decent chance, but not with the rotation as it stands.

i'm appalled that they are looking to dump more from the system to add pitching.  This should be a firesale of the vets to restock.  Anyone who is an FA next  year should be available.  I don't think there's a market for Doolittle, but him, Suzuki, Eaton, Cabrera should all be obtainable (of course, Thames and Sanchez as well, but they will not get you anything).

Lol, be hilarious if Ray ended up back here.

Nats could probably get Danny Duffy for next to nothing, and he would basically take Annibal's spot  next season (both in the rotation and payroll)

If we get a rental, can't give up any legit assets. Non top-30 type prospects only or bottom-10 of your top 30. We should be targeting guys under control for next year. Danny Duffy is a good idea Slate. Our AAAA SP assets Ross, Fedde, Crowe and Voth have all had their issues and non looks like a guy you can pencil in, so we need another vet SP for next season.

So what would they have to get up to get him?

Duffy? Nothing because hes a serviceable 4/5 that is owed 15 million next season and the royals hate spending money.

He'd also make a nice piece out of the pen in the postseason.

Maybe the Yanks are already offering nothing and have him wrapped up. I think Duffy has been rumored to be on the block a couple years now and KC has not moved him.

Maybe. But it's worth asking. The Royals wont be competitive next season either, so they move him now/this offseason, or hope he goes off next season.

Without even looking at the contract, that's too much.
