The game also can’t end in the top of an inning with the home team trailing, right? The home team has to have a chance to tie it.

Nats were behind after 5 innings...they had their chance to tie it in the bottom of the 5th.  Complete game at that point...they lose...ordinarily...

Per MLB.com, recognizing this isn’t the actual rule itself:

Quote
Suspended Game
Definition
A suspended game is a game that is stopped early and must be completed at a later date from the point of termination, though not all terminated games become suspended games.

The most frequent cause of a suspended game is when a regulation game is terminated due to weather, and the game is either tied or in the midst of an inning in which the visiting team has taken the lead. Other rarer causes for suspended games include a technical malfunction in the stadium that prevents the game from continuing.

Prior to the 2020 season, if a regular season game was terminated early before becoming official, the results up to the point of the termination did not count and the game was started over at a later date. But as part of MLB's health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, all games cut short before becoming official will be resumed at a later date, rather than started over from scratch, during the 2020 campaign. This matches the rules that have been in place since 2008 for all postseason games and any tiebreaker games added to the end of the regular season.

I don’t think so. The Orioles didn’t score in the top of the 6th. So they would have just wiped out the incomplete inning and Orioles would have won in 5. You’re right it they had taken the lead in the top of the 6th.

Well there would not have been a groundskeeping malfunction if it had not rained. Seems dumb to me.

Can’t call a game for rain if it’s actually not raining.

Trivia question: I assume this has to have happened, but I can't think of examples. Does anyone know of a trade after a suspended game resulting in a player playing for both teams in the same game?

Somebody needs to tell the audio guy that Washington is the home team, so the crowd shouldn't cheer for a pop-up out by a Nat.

There's a regular full game 45 minutes after this one, isn't there? I suppose that affects the managing.
