Fair point. I think the problem is that the Lerners want to make another run next year so may not be willing to give him that long.
I believe Mike Schmidt hit .196 his first full year. Although he did hit home runs and was a great fielder. So not comparing Kieboom to him. Just that patience is sometimes needed.
I wonder what the attitude issue is?
Then 60 games into 2021, they they can trade a hamburger to the Mariners for Kyle Seager's backloaded contract. But I'm betting that this season's financial issues, and the Lerners taking the hit in the commercial real estate world, I don't think they're going to be all that willing to take another shot. Especially with the laundry list of things this team needs in order to be competitive.
Castellanos hit .259/.306/.394 his first full season. Again, this fanbase is spoiled by the success of Soto, Rendon, Harper, and Zimmerman. It's simply not normal for guys to come up that young and rake.
If we trade Kieboom, it's pretty much a lock someone makes a mild adjustment to his swing, and he will rake.
Garcia has only a .707 OPS the far. He is good defensively but not exactly raking.
I know Garcia has had a nice start, but he has plenty of option years and needs to physically develop still. No reason he can't stay in the minors another year. People are treating it like he's smashing the ball, but his wRC+ puts him at about the Jurickson Profar level of second basemen. Not exactly elite company.
