Yeah there's no reason to start Cabrera every day now. Really silly and short-sighted.

I guess they figure they don't want start Kieboom and ruin his confidence if he's hitting .150

Trade bait?  https://twitter.com/byrobertmurray/status/1299061951453106182?s=21

With Castro here for another year and Garcia’s emergence, Kieboom is expendable and teams are noticing.

Frankly I think this is accurate.  We just need to call him up so he can hopefully boost his value for an off-season trade for an RF bat

It depends on whether upper management thinks he has genuine potential.  Pedro Severino took years to blossom (assuming he's not juicing). We're still kicking ourselves over that one.

Play him every single day now.   Get rid of Cabrera

So ... if Kieboom is a flop over the last 20 games, what then? Would that have any impact on 2021 plans?

Considering that the Lerners are probably going to insist on cutting payroll in a season with no fans, probably not. They're just going to find another Cabrera or Brock Holt, and play whoever is the hottest hand.

But he'll have plenty of time to work his swing out next season too.

Castro will be back. He can play third and Garcia can play 2B. Or probably to be better defensively Turner should move to 2B.

If Kieboom continues to struggle this year he's probably getting dealt due to the emergence of Garcia and the presence of Castro.  He's 2-8 with a walk in his first two games back.  Based on what Zuck wrote yesterday, it sounds like the issue with Kieboom wasn't so much his struggles as his attitude.

Garcia can chill out in the minors. He's rocking a .375 BABIP. That isnt going to sustain itself over the course of a long season. He can use a year down there to physically mature.

Castro can play for a bit. If he plays like he did this season, he's a trade piece at the deadline.

Garcia seems ready defensively. In any event 1B seems like the big hole offensively.  Especially with light hitters at 3B, RF and C.

Oh he's definitely ready defensively. If it were an honest competition, he'd be at shortstop. He's a very slick defender. Reminds me a lot of Jose Iglesias, both in the field and at the plate.

No first base option at all. Zim is retired. Howie gets hurt too much. Raudy Reed? Drew Mendoza?

Eaton has a 10 million dollar option, so that's probably gone. I guess it really depends on how much stock you put in this season. But that 10 million could be put towards a more productive player.

Suzuki is probably gone as well. Well, maybe they can use him as a platoon first baseman. But five million is a lot when Israel Pineda can do the same job at a fraction of the cost.

Yes. The need to find a way to get more power into the lineup.

Unfortunately 1B free agents for next year look horrible with Rizzo and Moreland leading the class.  If Zimmerman returns he might not be a bad option.

I'd settle for more hitting in general.

In a normal year, I'd say get Kyle Seager and Mitch Haniger from the Mariners, but I dont think the Lerners will be taking on payroll.

Not sure if you meant guys who will be FAs this winter or after next season, but both of them have team options this winter.   And given their amounts, both are extremely likely to get picked up.

There's not much out there.  If you want to add hitting at 1B, the best bet might be to sign Justin Turner and move him.  Problem is that he probably wants to stay on the West Coast and he won't be cheap, even if he's almost 36, his 3B defense is crap now, and the Dodgers might not really have space for him.

Yeah, Mets and Braves have left us in the dust offensively.

How can a guy who has played in the majors at the level he has thus far have an "attitude"?

They are only a tenth of a run scored per game behind the Mets. However well behind the Braves and Phillies.

The .351 OBP is nice, and  the defense looks good.  But the .000 ISO and the sub . 200 BA are headscratchers.  The 27 K% is most concerning.

I don't know, he doesn't seem to make the tough plays.  Like last night, he could not finish the barehand off-balance play.  I know they scored it a hit, but any good third baseman has to make that play. Rendon makes >95% of those.  Not trying to compare him to Rendon, but I think it's a routine play even for Cabrera.  Not an easy play but if a third baseman can't make it he shouldn't be playing third base.

Lately, Mets lineup is an offensive juggernaut. Conforto and Dom Smith look like young stars who will be producing at a high level for a long time.
