I love Clippard, but I would not be surprised if he doesn't want to be National. I think he either wanted to be a closer or a starter, and his success as a setup guy in DC prevented that from ever happening. Then he had that surprise trade, and I think I remember him being best friends and roommates with Drew Storen, whose time here ended terribly.
He probably has a lot of weird feelings about D.C., but he is a guy I will always be thankful for. He goes down with players like Michael Morse, Ian Desmond, Jordan Zimmermann, and Craig Stammen who may have been gone long before 2019 but I still consider vital in transitioning this franchise from the trash bin to the elite.
