Interesting timing in that he was kept out all that time precautionary (I assume from being around Robles) and I assume was testing negative, and now a few days later he tests positive.  Unless he caught it from somewhere else, that sure makes all the protocols regarding timing look wrong.

I'm not sure I'd invoke that name when talking about someone testing positive

I'm still not sure how this works - do they quarantine anyone who came in contact with him?

...what else could go wrong...Nats win DC's first World Series title in 95 years but because of the COVID they don't even get a victory lap...they lose Rendon in free agency...and now this...

Technically they lost Rendon to free agency first

He could have caught it at any time, any of us could.

with Davey's health issues, I don't want to think about what else could go wrong.

Exhibit 245 as to why this season is a stupid idea.

COVID is a tricky little thing. There have been cases of people being infected but still testing negative early on in the infection.

This seems totally fine.

Quote
Nationals GM Mike Rizzo on Juan Soto testing positive for COVID today: "I think you have to take a business-as-usual type of approach to it, just like any other injury during the season."

Soto's positive is from a test two days ago. Results came back this morning. All the rest of those tests were negative, but Soto practiced (as an asymptomatic carrier) with the team that day. Nats will be tested again today, but obviously not have results before the game.

Then you have our nephew in Florida who's tested positive multiple times since March but has never had any symptoms or other illness whatsoever.

uncle in law tested negative twice, third time positive, but by then he was about to be on a ventilator (he's fine now)

Why would Rizzo have symptoms?

This won't be the last time this season a guy tests positive.'

Be glad he is asymptomatic.

I stood there this AM, wondering which shirt to wear, the Soto jersey or the Max tee.  Went Soto because last year was bad luck the days Scherzer pitched and I wore the tee.  Now I know bad luck.

thing is, this is 3 weeks after the questionable flight MLB set up for the dominicans coming to the US for the season. I guess that's an exposure here, unless it is a false positive.

I'm still in "what else could go right" territory... last year's run was amazing, and is still enough to carry me through whatever happens this year.
