Pizza (2020) - a noncontroversial topic

Great looking picture of a Regina pie in the link.  I have not been to the original Regina's on Thatcher street in years, nor have I even been to  the one that is closing at the old Sports Depot (visible on the Mass Pike heading into town just after the New Balance building before the bridge over the Pike).  Regina used to be good mall pizza, but they lost out to Villa Pizza or something like that in all the Simon properties.

Dear Lord that pizza looks amazing.  I follow Pepe's on facebook and every single picture they post makes my mouth water.  I really should stop following them

that looks awesome, reading the article- I didn't know the sports depot closed. I loved that place- I lived walking distance in 2004- watched most of the playoffs there that year. I don't think I've ever been part of a more spontaneously joyful crowed as game 4 of the ALCS

enough browning on the crust but not charred, and the cheese browning in a few spots.  Beautiful.

:hysterical:

I grew up on Long Island so I'm kind of picky about pizza, but when we went to Italy a few years ago and had pizza with prosciutto, I realized how little I actually knew about pizza.  The idea of everyone having their own pizza and eating it with a fork and knife took some getting used to.

I’ve been to Naples and Rome.   Never had a pie there that I would put in the top 7 of New York pizza parlors

If you like New York pizza, and want to make it at home, I’d try Lamonica pizza dough. It is a very good approximation. We love it.

Let's find something we can all agree on - St Louis Pizza stinks.

Describe or post a picture of a Detroit pizza.

That looks similar to what I've often seen referred to as "Sicilian" pizza. (I've never been to Detroit.)

My favorite oxymoron was the restaurant in Copenhagen called the "Manhattan Deep Pan Pizza House."

when I saw this new thread I figured it ended up in politics for reasons I can't fathom. :)

Detroit pizza is called "Sicilian" where I grew up.

IMHO, the best pizza is NY style margherita, very thin crust, with lots of sauce fresh mozzarella and basil, ideally cooked in a coal or wood-fired oven.
