Funny that 9 of the 10 hits were singles so maybe some bad luck in there.

Am I crazy or did I read a post somewhere the Nationals liked Cavalli so much at the alternate site that they were considering him for the postseason roster had they made a late run?

I remember rolling my eyes when I read it, but looks like Cavalli may be a serious player in our Farm System.

dude was 22nd overall last year.  I'd  be curious as to how many guys were picked lower but cracked the top 100 at the start of the year.  I mean, there were hints he was darn good this spring.  granted, mostly practice and just one inning in a spring training game, but yeesh, this is sounding like a scouting miss by the raters.  At least some had him in the bottom of the top 100, and I'm sure they were anticipating him to crack it as soon as there were promotions, but were there folks who were saying they thought he'd be a big riser like this?  Also, glad Rizzo didn't say yes to the Reds on him in a  package for Suarez.

I read the same thing but didnt take much stock in it. The same things were said about Seth Romero.

I dont see any reason to rush Cavelli at this point. He's never thrown over 61 innings. We should let him take his time tgis season and next.

I see no reason for him to be in the majors this season unless he starts moving up and still dominating and the Nationals start putting together some winning weeks.

But that is a lot of lightning bolts that need to strike. Doubt it happens. Still exciting that we have one legit pitching prospect.

that's probably the plan. I'd guess he's going to throw around 100 innings in total this year.

Three more starts should take him til about the end of June.  Call him up to AA then and he should get about another 50 innings there.  Then unleash him on the top guys in the fall league.

Speaking of dominant pitchers in the High-A East, Cavalli tied Jacob deGrom for the most strikeouts in a pro game this year when he fanned 15 in seven no-hit innings on Saturday. He leads the Minors with 71 whiffs in 40 2/3 innings, ranks second behind Waldichuk in strikeout percentage (45 percent) and sports a 1.77 ERA and .171 opponent average.

I just realized that the Mets lifted their Brooklyn Cyclones from the rookie-league to High-A. I can take the subway to see Wilmington.
