If the Flyers or Caps win I won’t cate. No asterisk. I’m just delighted that the Pens will have to face Carey Price in the first round. I can hear them whining already.

I'd bet on at least one of those two teams eating it in the first round, if not both.  Gonna be ice cold while waiting on the winners of those other series.

Why the NHL seems to think that 16 playoff teams isn't enough given that the NFL and MLB get by just fine with 12 and 10 every year is beyond me.

The first 4 teams will not be cold because they will be playing each other to determine their final position in the top four. Not clear if it will be one or two or three games.

I’d pay to see the 98 bulls play again. Even now.

Looks like the NBA is considering different options including expanded playoffs or a play in for final spots.

It’s going to be the Wizards year. Win the play in and then hope the Greek Freak is not allowed back in the country.

Premiere League to start.

https://www.espn.com/soccer/english-premier-league/story/4102936/premier-league-to-return-on-june-17-amid-coronavirus

...this must mean the British pubs are going to re-open before the original 4th July date. How can they expect people to go dry for 17 days? (A lot of pubs over there show live sports nowadays.)

I'm sure it was. You'll know if you've ever attended a match at Stamford Bridge - those seats are Metrobus-tight, packing a capacity a few hundred larger than Nats Park - and Chelsea have been selling out for years now. That place would be a Petri dish for something like CoronaExtraVirus.

liverpool was saying that even with no fans they didn't want people gathering to celebrate in front of an empty Anfield

I’m sure this will not deter the SEC and the rest of the Power Five.

The NBA is going to Disneyworld

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-board-of-governors-approves-22-team-plan-to-finish-the-2019-20-season-at-disney-world/
The interesting thing about this to me is that the Disneyworld parks Are starting to reopen in July.  Wonder how they will keep the teams isolated from the other visitors. I know it’s a big place.

it's college football- none of the adults involved cares. I was listening to a debate yesterday about how the committee would view a loss if the quarterback room all tested positive and couldn't play- not a single mention of the safety of students, just the ramifications for the playoffs. I'm interested to see what women's sports they bring back to balance title IX funding

The only relevant issue is money. If those schools bring the other students back on campus they will have all sorts of COVID 19 cases on campus.  All the students can gather on Saturday on campus or at the local drinking spots to spread it more.

Just the football players (and maybe women's soccer to offset it) coming back is a terrible look- it's not safe enough for the real students, but the football players are fine- but I'm sure they'll do it anyway

I think many of the schools in the south will reopen to all students. Which is a dumb look in itself.

WNBA and its players union getting closer on a 22-fixture season for 2020: https://zonecoverage.com/2020/lynx/the-plan-for-a-2020-season-is-starting-to-come-into-focus-for-minnesota-lynx-wnba/

Come on baseball...if the WNBA can get its covid-season act together, so can you.

CNN has a running list of colleges reporting Covid-19 positive athletes.  The approach seems to be to just isolate folks who test positive, almost all are either asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms:

NBA start may not be so smooth.  Not everyone is happy.
