This was part of their plan.

Of course there will be positive cases. Who cares?!?

But now Manfred can blame it on the players for lack of discipline and he gets to say him and the owners tried to save baseball this year and the players just couldn't keep their crap together.

The players blocked that, right? They didn’t want to be away from their families?
I thought they expanded their rosters for just this reason-if a few players got sick then they had some spares waiting in the wings?
The players did, but just look at the logistics.

30 teams x 30 players per team is 900 players. Baseball fields take up a lot of space. Where do you play? One rainy day could wipe out 10 or more games.

The reason the bubble may work for the NBA and NHL is fewer players and fewer games, all played in a small surface area.

Anyone else feel bad for the coach driver who has to drive 20 COVID positive marlins 20 hours into a hurricane?

3 bubbles would have been the answer...

New York has 2 MLB fields that could host a double header daily, and Staten Island to host a day game daily for the East teams.  Use Brooklyn as home base.

Chicago has 2 Mlb fields and Milwaukee another.  Use Northern Chicago Suburban hotels as home base for the Central teams.

LA has 2 MLB fields...not sure about a third.  Plenty of places to use as home base for the West Teams.

But...they couldn't stand to be away from home for 60-75 days.  What a bunch of spoiled wimps...

What part of that is he wrong on?  The players take responsibility for their own behavior under this scenario.  Not seeing issues with the bubble sports...

The NFL has 0 chance of getting in a full season.  0...

People catch COVID. People who have to regularly travel are more likely to catch COVID.

Baseball should have created a bubble in Nashville...they've had the virus under control for months now...

LA you could use the A ball parks in San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga.   You could do something similar for the Bay Area if you wanted: Oakland, SF, San Jose's A ball park, and even Sacramento if you wanted to expand a bit.  Chicago also has a couple Midwest League parks fairly nearby too, especially if you're including Milwaukee.

Especially if they travel to strip joints. I know the Cards would not do that though as they always do things the right way.

To be fair they just had three and a half months to be with their families 100 percent of the time which they don’t normally get in the spring and summer.

Families are overrated.

Mine certainly is.  They want things like "mow the lawn," "be a father," and most egregiously, "stop drinking beer alone in the dark."

The NFL has way more money than MLB.  They are the only sport in the world that can make it without a bubble

#MLB internal investigation found the #Marlins were very lapse in following protocols during Atlanta trip last weekend, players going out, players in hotel bar, etc. Lots of MLB people very unhappy with Miami

The only way this was going to work was if a bunch of rich guys in their 20s and early 30s could be trusted to stay isolated when they are on the road out with a bunch of guys who are in a contest to see who is the alpha.  What could go wrong?

These are uncertain times.  Nobody knows the WTF is going on, not even the experts on this board.  The best laid plans, in every aspect out lives these days, are shaky at best.   I view it as, they are trying to make it happen.  Let's not freak out every time we hit a bump in the road because there will be more coming.  Roll with the punches and adjust when necessary.

Seems like we are divided into two groups. One that really wants baseball at all costs and one that thinks it’s dumb to try to do this when there has been little progress in controlling the disease.
60 percent of a team testing positive on the first weekend is not a bump in the road. It’s an indication that this is folly.
