Seems odd that in a season that should be favorable to the Marlins given their experience playing in empty stadiums, they can’t play.

Pitching Rainey way too much.   His velocity has dropped
Down a couple mph all year, but seems to be much more accurate.   I think that is an effective trade off.

Rainey has been in 5 games over 8 days. But only 59 pitches total including just 3 pitches in one of the Yankees games. I am sure that has factored into their decisions.  He doesn’t have to hold up for a 162 game season.

Cardinals got hit with the rona now. Their game is postponed. It's just going to get worse. Six teams, or 20% of the league, idle tonight.

Going to be a lot of double-headers if they continue, or the league will use MLB2K to play the games that can't be played in person.

Cards vs Brewers ppd due to Cards players testing positive according to ESPN. Time to pull the plug. Doubtful if any of the players are at risk of dying  but certainly people they come in contact with could be more vulnerable due to age or underlying conditions.

Marlins are sending the infected personnel back to Miami on chartered buses. They can't use Amtrak in sleeper-class private rooms because all train service south of JAX has been suspended due to Isaias.

togetherness . . .

Maybe they can just wholesale replace their roster with the spare 30 players from the team with the most prospects in camp?

This is a week into the season. It would be funny if I wasn’t so damn sad.

The season isn't going to make it. They had a choice; go bubble, or be ready to power through limited case numbers and only shutting a team down if it was Marlins bad.

They spent more time posturing in the media about money than asking, "How will this work?"

Hate this.

To be fair, If someone were going to try to convince me to work during a pandemic (or at any time), the thing I’d probably focus on most is money too.

Manfred is the commissioner. Who the hell is he pointing the finger at if not himself?

Rumor has it the Marlins outbreak also involved players going to Magic City in Atlanta. I’ve got to try these wings....

The players blocked that, right? They didn’t want to be away from their families?
I thought they expanded their rosters for just this reason-if a few players got sick then they had some spares waiting in the wings?

900 players plus coaches and support staff was probably not feasible, even if players were willing. But you’re right, it was a non starter with the players. And the owners really wanted to play in home stadiums to get as revenue for the televised games.
