I hate the DH, although for sentimental reasons I recognize it would extend Ryan Zimmerman and Howie Kendrick's careers.
Sorry about Zimmerman and Kendrik, but if you can't play baseball you shouldn't play baseball.  Playing baseball means hitting and fielding.  I don't know about the rest of you but when I watch major league baseball I enjoy seeing world class athletes.  Not broken down, one-dimensional, fat old men.  Old men whose presence on the roster just means some young kid isn't getting his chance.

I'm still a DH guy even though I watch way more NL than AL.  The NL is more of a managers game, which is why the big ego types like LaRussa and Maddon love it, but I'd rather see the best pitchers pitch and a more skilled hitter hit.  A DH line up simply puts better talent on the field.  Besides, most teams don't use a single DH in the AL now.  Really, only Nelson Cruz, Soler, JD Martinez, Vogelbach, Renato Nunez, Miggy, and Khris Davis were qualified hitters with most of their PAs at DH, and I'd be comfortable with Soler, JD, and Davis in the field.  The only two who fit the big lumbering stereotype are Miggy and Vogelbach, while Cruz is really the only old man hanging on (Miggy too, but I can't count him twice).

Major League Baseball will close all spring training sites in Arizona and Florida for deep cleaning and will not permit players or staff members until they pass a COVID-19 test.

And so it continues...

60 would work out to 4 games vs 5 teams in the counterpart division of the other league (AL East for the Nats) and 10 games against each of the 4 other teams in your division.  A 61 game season would work out to 25 games against your counterparts and 36 against your own division (9 games each). A bunch of 2 and 3 game series.  Either ought to be relatively simple to schedule.  64, 65 and 66 would be simple, too.

I was confident we would play. Now I think the histeria from the media is going to make this a no go. Players and owners obviously don't want to play all that much anyways.

It’s the media’s fault that they aren’t coming to an agreement?

Onward and upward--but only if COVID-19 cooperates.

One never knows.  Likely there will be no or fewer fans and therefore the owners will want to renegotiate signed deals.  We could very well have this mess again.

Also it's being implemented as part of safety protocols this season--so maybe those protocols are still i place next year?

At this point just let it end.

The season is effectively over. Let it die. Come back next year.

Doesn't matter...half the players will be coughing up a lung before the "season" even starts...

We’re just going to slow down the testing. Problem solved.

It's sort of like throwing to first when a runner is on.  You notice how, for most runners that steal bases, pitchers throw to first?  Just stop throwing to first then these guys would no longer be base stealers!

So looks like the Nats will be playing the NL and Al East only.  Could be tough.

That's a pretty fun schedule though.  Who makes the playoffs?
