Has there ever been a QB who started out like a ball of fire but then reverted to terrible as Carson Wentz has? He was on track to be MVP in 2017 before his knee injury. Now he is just terrible.

Jay Schroeder, perhaps? He had that monster season in 1986, fell out of favor in 1987, and was traded to the LA Raiders for Jim Lachey in 1988 in one of the great all-time steals. Never did much after that, IIRC, although I believe the Raiders did make it to the AFC Championship one year during his tenure (whether because he played well or in spite of his play is something I don't remember anymore).
