Atlanta has to be the favorite right now, but Washington, Philly, and the Mets are all capable of winning the division.

I got three baseball preview magazines and saw one prediction on MLB.com. One magazine predicted the Nats in first. One picked the Braves. One picked the Phillies. The MLB prediction was the Mets in first. Should be a fun year.

Wow. I guess it's as good as a season as any for him to miss.

July 1 today, AKA Bobby Bonilla Day!

For the uninitiated: Today, and every July 1 until 2035, the Mets will pay Bobby Bonilla $1.2 million.  The best part of that fiasco is that Wilpon came up with this daddy of all deferred-payment plans so he could save money up front to invest with Bernie Madoff.  That's about as Mets as something can be.

I just finished a Sandy Koufax bio. Didn’t know until then that Wilpon was his best friend growing up. And Wilpon was the hot baseball prospect and not Sandy.

I knew none of that either.  Somehow that makes Wilpon seem even sadder.

According to the book he was very good but not recruited much. Just sort of ended up in Cincy for a year.

Larry King was a classmate also. Has lots of Koufax stories which are mostly made up.

what I can say is I'd rather beat'em healthy, so I'm hoping for a quick and complete recovery.

I’m hoping for no complications, and a very long asymptotic recovery

So the Wilpons will pass on the extra $300 million because b-list athletes are involved in the competing bid?

Smart move by those athletes. Even being a small-time owner of a sports team is basically a guaranteed cash cow over 20 years.

I don't think the ARod bid has a chance- Cohen bid 2 billion, Arod bid 1.7- even if these athletes contribute their life time earnings, they still fall short of Cohen
