Mets designate Brian Dozier.

i could see us bringing him back depending on how long Castro is out.

Byron Kerr notes: “ So their current pitching staff includes: Dunning, Ross Detwiler, Lucas Giolito and Gio Gonzalez. Reynaldo Lopez is on the 10-day IL with right shoulder soreness ”

They started him?!?!? He always projected as a reliever . . .

I thought there were mixed views.  There were those who thought he could be stretched out to a starter for added value.

Dunning back down to the practice squad. He was clearly getting tired at around 50 pitches, all 3 runs were given up in the 5th inning he couldn't finish, when he was going through the order for the third time. Apparently they don't view him as a starter yet.

Reynaldo Lopez will allegedly come off the IL to replace Dunning.

Dunning wasn't really putting a lot of pitches into the strike zone, but the Tigers were swinging at them nonetheless.

it's nice of the White Sox to let us see how our pitching prospects are developing.

Lucas Giolito's line today is 7.0 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk, 13 strikeouts, and no runs. Given that the White Sox are up 5-0, he may be relieved by their mop-up guy, Ross Detwiler.

Pivetta dealt to Boston for Hembree and Workman. That's nice bullpen help for Philly.

Too little too late methinks.  What a mess Klentak created. They also traded a prospect pitcher I believe.

I did not recognize the other name in the deal but yes, there was another body coming to the Sox.  Pivetta is immediately the Sox's #2 or #3 starter behind Eovaldi and the corpse of Martin Perez.

That's scary.  Pivetta has a decent fastball but cannot locate it consistently.  He probably would be better off as a pen guy where he could probably throw 97-98 for an inning or two.  In the Sox situation makes sense to give him a chance.  Next they can try and fix VV.

Conor Seabold.  He's a borderline prospect as is the pitcher they gave up to the Yankees for Hale.  Nevertheless Phillies fans are in a tizzy about giving up prospects.
