I'm interested in seeing what sort of fan support the DC Defenders would get next spring, regardless of whether it's the XFL as it was last year or a merged league. They drew pretty decent crowds in terms of Audi Field's capacity, but I wonder how much of that was people wanting an alternative to Dan Snyder and whether that support might dry up a bit with him out of the picture.

I think the Defenders will be fine. There are enough 20-somethings living in the area that enjoy hanging out in the GA section and building the beer snake to keep the team going. Plus they built a decent following over the last couple of years and Audi Field is maybe the nicest sporting venue in the area to watch a game/match. I plan to go to at least a couple of games next season.

And no matter what happens with the Commanders, Audi Field will be filled with FDS chants for years to come.

Plans confirmed. If this happens, I wonder how they'll configure the season. The XFL teams played in their designated cities. The USFL teams did not—the league was using certain hub cities (I believe Birmingham, Detroit, and Canton).

Not sure why they felt the need to define "USFL" in quotation marks when they don't use that term again in the release.
