Announced attendance was around 12,000 but they must have counted teams, staff, employees, trash cans, cars, and so on….

Yea that is quite a stretch. Seating capacity is about 10k. 12.5 K with standing room.

The Athletic is saying rating are way down from XFL’s last go around. I wonder how much money the backers are willing to lose

uncensored XFL tonight. The players are miked and not any kind of delay. Cussing a blue streak a mile wide and it's all on ESPN.

The Beer Snake has been approved by the XFL. It returns tomorrow. No more lemons.

JMU’s Ben DiNucci is absolutely destroying the XFL. 29-37 tonight for 377 with 4 TDs and an INT. Currently leads the league with 855 yards passing. #2 has 445.

Glorious day for it. I would have gone except I promised my wife I’d clear her car's headlights (it wouldn’t pass state inspection otherwise). With that done, I have it on TV.

I want to see them throw the beer snake up in the air and start a cup fight after the game ends.

The final 30 seconds of the game featured:

- the DC Defenders picking off AJ McCarron in the endzone for a seemingly game-ending play
- the DC Defenders fumbling the snap in the victory formation and turning the ball over to St. Louis at the 1-yard line
- St. Louis scoring a touchdown and a 2 pt conversion
- St. Louis attempting a 4th and 15th (the XFL equivalent of an onside kick) and failing
- one big fight right after the failed 4th and 15th
- another smaller fight after the Defenders did another victory formation (no fumble this time)

But game over - the Defenders improve to 3-0 and are the best team in the XFL. Home crowd was big and loud. Beer snake looking swole.

Ben DiNucci leads the XFL in fumbles, interceptions, TD throws, and passing yards.

Crowd at Audi Field not as big for the Defenders today, but way bigger than it should be for an XFL game being played in 39 degree rain.

Put a good football team in DC and people will embrace it.

Vegas scores. Players come over to taunt the sro section, which responds by pelting them with lemons.

What's the origin of their throwing lemons? I know they threw lemons earlier this year when the beer snake was prohibited, but why lemons?

What's the origin of their throwing lemons? I know they threw lemons earlier this year when the beer snake was prohibited, but why lemons?

At the stadium they sold big cups of lemonade that included a whole lemon in the cup. During the first home game the fans were upset when security confiscated the beer snake, so they threw the lemons on the field. Immediately afterwards, the Seattle QB threw a pick-6, and the legend of the lemons was born.

They no longer sell the lemonade cups with lemons, but lots of fans sneak them in. And the beer snake is now permitted.

this with 5 minutes left in the game before they dismantled the beer snake. By this point most people were on their way to the Metro.  I'm in that picture somewhere.

I'm kind of disappointed that the rest of the schedule is such that I won't make it to a game. Next home game is a Monday night at the same time as the Springsteen concert (to which I have tickets), and then the other remaining home game is on a Sunday when I expect to be out of town. Oh well. Maybe the league will still be around next year to provide another chance.

i'm sure it will. Ratings and attendance will keep it going.
