the games in large stadiums look terrible on TV.

XFL week one ticket sales already surpassed the entire AAF abbreviated season.  It looks like Audi is about half full already for the next game.

They broadcast this on radio too (FM-106.7, Grant Paulsen behind the mike). After the broadcast the callers were mostly enthusiastic, several of them saying just how over the Redskins they are.

We'll see.

there was a pretty large "HTTD - Sell the Team Dan" banner on one side of the stadium

Washington may be the ideal xfl market- big enough wealthy city with a great downtown stadium that has proven to support football, but fans who view the local NFL team with anything from hatred to resignation to apathy.

Agreed.  Audi Field, IMHO, is the difference-maker.  I can't imagine the team would do well if in FedEx or RFK (without massive RFK renovations).

I heard that several of the other teams tried to play at soccer fields but were rebuffed by the soccer clubs who I guess didn't want to share the field or have it damaged.

That's kind of sad- most of the new wave of soccer only stadiums seem like great event venues

Well maybe the league should have figured out good stadiums before deciding on franchises?

I turned on the game from New York yesterday and the optics were bad. They're playing at the Meadowlands and the stadium is simply too big. The Defenders' crowd would have looked small at FedEx. For that matter, RFK was too big for DC United most of the time, so it would have been too big for the Defenders as well (setting aside RFK's decrepit condition and impending demolition). Seeing a smaller-time league playing in an NFL stadium reminded me of the terrible optics for the USFL when the Los Angeles Express would draw 10,000 people to the LA Coliseum back when the venue seated 95,000 people. There was no way to make a crowd that small look good in that stadium.

I can understand why some soccer teams' management might be concerned about field conditions. On the other hand, I gather DC United were very happy to have another tenant to help pay for the stadium, and on TV it looked like the field held up pretty well this past Saturday.

The Los Angeles XFL team already fired their defensive coordinator. That was quick!

DC Defenders are 2-0. I truly believe they have the best QB in the XFL and will bring another sports championship to the DMV this spring.

quite the butt-kicking today.   Did you catch the NY QB saying they had locker room issues during his sideline interview?  I think the worst part of the whole situation is that they have to take a bus back to NJ tonight.

4 INTs so far for Jones.  A reminder of why he plays in the XFL and not the NFL.

Devastating loss for the Defenders out in Los Angeles. Hopefully they can recover from this. It's hard to believe this is the same team that hung 27 points on New York.

Now, I don't know football very well, but side from kickoff rules and declaring things, I don't see much difference. It's faster and the players seem more agile maybe.overall I am enjoying it.

The one, two and 3 point conversions need to be adopted immediately by the NFL.

Does the xfl not have nerds to make charts for mathematically challenged coaches?

Audi field is great as long as you don’t expect a simple hotdog (Jose Andreas did the whole stadium menu)

I put $2 on the Defenders. You best bring home a W.
