The DC Defenders are 7 and 1/2 point favorites in their opener.  Professional football has returned to DC.

I'd consider going this Saturday if the weather forecast weren’t so rotten.

Is betting on the XFL higher or lower on the degenerate gambler scale than betting on high school football?

I would say higher at the beginning of the season at least.  No track record to go on.

You sound hurt that you don't have an XFL team. Don't be hurt.

Cheapest ticket I saw just now (looking for a single ticket) was $36 up under the roof on the side of the stadium closer to Nats Park. We sat up in that general area for a soccer game this past October and liked it. You're up at the top of the stadium, but it's not all that high up.

25 seats remain. Almost sold out.

Anyone have any recommendations for getting there from VA?  Nearest metro stop?

Make sure you check out the WMATA track work if you're coming from Virginia. The Orange and Silver Lines will have issues this weekend. But otherwise, just ride to Navy Yard, walk around the South Capitol Street side of Nats Park to the home plate gate, then cross South Capitol Street to your right and walk down Potomac Avenue to Audi Field.

thanks, that or the waterfront stop look to be about equidistant.

Vienna and Dunn Loring are shut down this weekend. :(. Looks like we'll be using the silver line to L'enfant.

You live in football land (Roll Tide or some damn thing)... what's wrong with spring football? It could be fun. Nice little stadium too. It's not at that impossible-to-get-to, mistake-of-epic-proportions in PG county! Bonus!

I'll watch from home this game. Might catch one later this season though.

also first football game in DC in quite a while.  And probably the last for quite a while assuming the XFL folds before the year is out (the WWE is in pretty bad financial shape right now and just fired their top management).
