Dave says they are gonna Turner in the 3 spot in the lineup

Puts lots of pressure on Robles.

I think you can guess that the 2d baseman and the 3d baseman will likely be around 6 and 7 in the order, with C 8th, so it almost squeezes Robles into one of the top 3 spots.  Of Eaton, Robles, and Turner, probably Turner is best suited for #3.  It would slot Soto 4th and 1B fifth.  I could see when Howie is at 2d or 3d you might shift things around and perhaps go Turner - Eaton - Howie, then Soto-Thames (RZ), and hit Robles 6th or 8th.

just looking at his contract and it seems there's no real reason to extend him.  He's under contract in 21 and 22.  Going into 23 he'll be 30 years old and by then Garcia should be firmly ready to take over the SS slot.

The Nats have had such good success with their everyday prospects that you forget how many top prospects are failures.

Weird contract, I say we lock him up for 2022 while we still can

I'm assuming there will be some sort of earth/gravity rotational event that causes 21 to repeat itself. :)

Healthy, he is good as anyone in the game with the right coach.   He should run 90 percent of the time he is on base.

If he continues to develop power, I dont know why he cant stat viable from ages 30-33. He wont be a burner, but he'd still be able to swipe 20 bags and hit 20 homers

Davey doesn’t use these players to the best of their ability. Turner should run 90 percent of the time he’s on base.   By not running him ever, the pitchers start getting more comfortable when he’s on base.   It’s absurd.

No reason to risk him getting hurt at this point

He is a 27 year old lead off hitter he should be stealing bases.

Maybe he shouldnt be hitting leadoff.

Hes hitting .377/.431/.646. I dont care if he's stealing bases at this point. As long as the offense is him and Juan Soto and garbage behind them, Trea Turner stealing a base is going to automatically result in Soto getting walked.

We're not losing because Turner isnt stealing bases. We're losing because the starting pitching is bad and the rest if the lineup is crap

this.

bats will probably go dead as soon as the pitching turns it around

Only thing I really want to see is Garcia and Turner swap positions. Garcia looks to be a light hitting, slick fielding middle infielder. Garcia would be better leveraged at short, with Turner sliding over to second base.

Garcia will be at third before he moves to short.

Garcia will first have to perform his obligatory internship in the outfield...one does not simply assume the SS position with the Nats based upon merit alone...

Would 7/115 get it done. He'd make more over the next two seasons, and be at or near market value for free agency

For some reason,  I thought Turner was with Boras, but it looks like he's with CAA (like RZ).  2 more years of arbitration.  Maybe a deal can be made.  I don't know CAA's reputation.

I really like Trea, but I wouldn't break the bank to extend a SS with his skillset into his mid-30s.  In the mold of Harper and Rendon, he will be a guy who plays his years of control out and is gone.  Soto, on the other hand, is the guy to pay the astronomical price tag for.

Then move Turner to 3B in his thirties.
