Skynyrd has an original?
Gary Rossington is still alive and kicking, even after a heart attack. Artimus Pyle is the only other person alive who was in the band at the time of the plane crash, he still tours/plays on his own (and he may still be the only person to survive a plane crash and getting shot in the same day).
Ricky Medlock was with the band for a couple of years in the early 1970s before returning in the late 90's so he might count too.

I think they've been on a retirement tour for about five years now. Don't get me wrong, they sounded fantastic and seeing them play Freebird live is almost a religious experience, but still, they are largely a cover band at this point. Heck, before the final verse of Freebird Johnny Van Zant put Ronnie's hat on a microphone stand at the front of the stage, waved goodbye, and walked off. They then showed Ronnie on a big screen above the stage and piped in a recording of him signing the final verse while the rest of the band continued to play the music live.
