Only 43.  Colon  cancer.

Holy crap! That's terrible! And I agree with bluestreak - this year just keeps finding new ways to suck harder.

He played for UConn while I was at Georgetown, so I saw him as a young player. RIP

Cliff Robinson was the first All-American for UConn.  His being there led to many other greats coming to the school.

Jeez. The passing of an era in DC sports. Seemed like a great man.

He was a great man.  Besides the great coaching career, he would go into SEDC, NEDC, and PG County every year to get kids into basketball camps that were really tutoring sessions on non-public school topics.

My childhood hero. Just wanted to be him when I was playing little league ball. :(

Lived in Connecticut when he was pitching. Mostly a Yankees fan, except for Tom Seaver.

'67 hooked me on baseball, so the '67 world series stands out in my mind.  He and Gibson killed the Red Sox.  That Cards team also had Curt Flood and the tail end of Maris (McCarver at the start of his career, too).  Red Sox team had RoTY runner up Reggie Smith (Carew was RoTY), Cy Young Jim Lonborg, Triple Crown Yaz, and was Dick Williams first pennant winner.

I saw this pic and thought it was a good one. Brock, Julian Javier and Bob Gibson celebrating that championship. Good article from St Louis Post dispatch too.

I never saw him play, but Brock was my Dad’s favorite player because they both grew up in Louisiana and went to the same college (years apart).

She’s a human Rorschach test in whether you see her as Olenna Tyrell or Emma Peel.

Also not a good year for Bond Girls.

Dame Diana Rigg to us commoners.

It's too bad. She was an icon.
