Probably because it is the first thing I can remember seeing him in, the first thing that comes to mind for me is his cameo in Steve Martin's The Jerk, which Reiner also directed.

His fiddle in the live version of "24 Hours at a Time" is one of the first things I think about.  Saw him at the Cape Cod Coliseum, which was this concrete cinder-block building owned by Vince McMahon before the WWF (E) became huge.
