Food and How You Cook/Eat It (2020)

No substantive post here, just starting the new thread for 2020 while I can still quote the post with the links to the prior years because that's easier than re-creating the links.

Making the following for dinner tonight, except I’m using chicken thighs because I wasn’t able to get quail. I’ve wanted to make this since I saw it in the magazine a month or two ago and the three-day weekend is the perfect chance to do it.

We made a pot of chili yesterday and some corn bread to go with it. Love these 3 day weekends. :mg:

We'll do chili in two weeks for the Super Bowl. Tomorrow my wife plans to make the following:

Had dinner here last night:

Price fixe menu based on your choice of how many courses you want and whether or not you want to try a chef’s choice dish. It was incredible but expensive.  The Inn that the restaurant is in is charming as well.

This was really good. My wife even praised it. It could use a little less liquid in the gravy, though. We both thought next time we'll reduce the amount of chicken broth to get a slightly thicker gravy with more sherry flavor. This recipe is a keeper.

Those prices looked downright reasonable compared to this joint;

That’s where we plan to go in July for our tenth anniversary.

minibar is, bar none, the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. My wife took me there for my birthday.

So I finally got to try the new Popeyes chicken sandwich.  It was good but not good enough to stand in line for 30 minutes or to get stabbed over.  Couple of days later I tried the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich.  Equally as good.  Couple of days later it was Zaxbys.  This was without a doubt the most uneventful chicken sandwich I've ever had.  Course I could've still been steaming after finding the wait at Cracker Barrel was 15 minutes and Zaxbys was plan B.

Zaxbys is the best, but they have multiple sandwiches.   Order the kicking chicken sandwich, and substitute the blue cheese for ranch.   Gold.

There is still a 30 minute wait for the Popeyes sandwich?

No. I walked right up to the cashier. I was referring to the wait when it was first released.

I hate living in Bowie becuase it is a relative black hole when it comes to decent food. Jerry's Seafood is decent but aside from your standard chains there really is nothing in Bowie that is good. You have to go to Crofton or Annapolis to get decent grub.  I been craving new york style pizza around there and the closest i got is Pizzaness which is okay but nothing special.

Has anyone tried cooking with an Air Fryer ?  I would like to hear any suggestions or ideas anyone has run across when using an Air Fryer.

I saw this for sale on woot.com today.  Don't know anything about air fryers or this particular model.  If you're not familiar with woot you log on with your amazon user id to make the purchase.
