Why though?  They need to cut 100-200 off their runs against to even sniff a playoff spot.  Rendon combined with the Astros losing Cole probably gets them to 25 games out of first in the division with a 200+ million payroll.

And it’s done. 7/245.

Thanks for everything, Tony Two Bags and good luck in Anaheim.

I grew to not like him, then the World Series happened and I realized how lucky we were to have him. This sucks :(

Sure shows that the FA market for pitchers is way higher than position players.

With his 5% commission, Boras has made over $40 million this week.

freak him. Or freak the Lerners. Not sure which one at this point.

He can get his ring when the Nats are in Anaheim May 11-13.

This stinks in particular because I like watching Rendon and it's pretty hard to catch Angels games.

I also can't imagine them making the playoffs the next couple years while Rendon is in his prime, but maybe they'll make some more big moves? Idk.

I don’t think they have any pitching. Unless they make more big moves, they’re not going anywhere. They need both quantity and quality when it comes to pitching.

That's the one good part.  At least it's an AL team. (MLB says Rendon has a no-trade clause and no opt out).

Donaldson isn't a bad fall back option.

And Ryu. And Bumgarner. And Gray via trade from the Rockies. As I said, they have a lot of work to do when it comes to acquiring pitching.

All in all, with the big FAs going to the AL, and keeping Strasburg, it's been a decent off season for us.

As much as I'd like to have everyone back together for another year or two to see what they can do, having 70+ million tied up in Strasburg and Rendon from 2022-2026 might have made for a lot of bad, expensive teams.   Rizzo has gone with the strategy of paying big for FA pitchers for a while now, and I'd say it's served us well, so hopefully giving money to Stras was the right choice if it was even a choice.

Rendon may regret it someday.  Money can't buy you love ... or the playoffs.

Way too many strong teams in the AL for the Angels to make the playoffs anytime soon - much less make a deep run - unless they make some huge moves.
