Isn't MLB and even like the DEA investigating the Angels because of employees giving Tyler Skaggs drugs?  Didn't an employee say he gave drugs to like 5 other players, but luckily none of them died?  Charming team there, Antony.

meh, clearly they have awesome food- how many cities can claim their own type of pizza made with something called provel which may be edible
and he'll be playing before the best fans in MLB, except they are too modest to say so.  I think the humility was part of the sales pitch.

Ryu going to St. Louis
Source? Don’t see anything about this. They signed Kwang Hyun Kim.  They probably all look alike to you.

I assume, by now, he has already gone to ground in anticipation of the NorKs nuking us.

There may be an excursion to OPACY when he comes in.  i guess his next game at Nats Park will be in 2023, unless the Angels schedule an exhibition before opening day when they open on the east coast.

Next year, the Angels open at Houston on 3/26, then go to the Rangers.

I wonder what the over / under is on the Angels making the play-offs in the next five years.

They will be the favourites to win the World Series next year. Trout will have a monster year with Rendon hitting behind him  :mg:

if hitting won championships the Yankees would have had a few trophies these last ten years.

Five years is a long time.  This year and probably next, they're still the third-best team in their own division, which presents a pretty big hurdle.   They have the additional problem of having one good prospect and an otherwise terrible farm system, so there's not a lot of help coming aside what they sign.

yeah.  If Rendon gives them another 5 wins, that's still only 77-85.

Arguably, they are the fourth best team in their division, since Texas has not been sitting still either and has hopes of putting a much better product on the field in their new stadium, especially since they are still in the hunt for free-agents like Castellanos. Kluber today might not be Kluber of old, but he seems better than whatever improvements the Angels have made to their rotation (Bundy and Teheran) unless Ohtani comes back as a starter and delivers on all the hype and potential.

Even Texas's new stadium itself might be worth a few more wins for the Rangers. One thing Buck Showalter pointed out was that in the soon-to-be-old open air stadium, you could not schedule afternoon games before get-away days in the summer because of the heat. Since virtually every Rangers away-game except to Houston is a significant bit of travel, that alone could add a few wins on the road from more refreshed players.

Of course, the Angels might step in and get Castellanos themselves to replace Kole Calhoun in right field. One big advantage they have is that even with all these expensive contracts to Rendon, Trout, Pujols and Upton, they are not hurting financially. Rendon and a healthy Ohtani for a full season will likely keep them well above the 3 million attendance mark. They also have their TV contract and the development rights for the area around the stadium, which is bigger than Disneyland.

A healthy Ohtani is worth 3-5, easy

Plus Simmons missed 50 games last year.  They weren't in as bad shape as last year's record suggests, but they were way, way behind the two top teams.

And ... not score runs?

And it came to pass that I was right except for the positions they would play.

definitely sad not having him be part of the documentary.  Heck, even Will Smith was part of it.

Didn’t see the documentary.  But that’s some low class BS to leave him out.

So they couldn’t get him on line?  LACAP. Lerners are cheap and petty.

eh, more likely that the small nats video staff didn't have the time to go send a crew out there, and asking the busy angels production staff to get the exact same look in the interviews is a lot to ask. i think people forget how small these productions are (it shows) and the little time they have to put these things together in the spring, plus 90% of players making more than a few million tell you to F off when you ask them for an interview

rendon strikes me as one of those players that is hard enough to get for team-mandated things, let alone a doc talking about the team that chose to re-sign someone else (stras) over him.

I assume Rendon is letting his multiple clutch postseason hits speak for him.
