I will probably watch Anthony Rendon play about 10 more games for the rest of my life.  That is sad, but true.  The Angels might as well play on Mars for as much as I see them.

Here’s a ridiculous thought as I believe Kieboom is not ready for prime time. Sign Cabrera for 3rd and a Dozier type for 2nd for one year and possibly a team friendly option for the 2nd year until Kieboom and Garcia are ready. Put the money in the BP.

And ... not score runs?

Supply and demand.  Donaldson is the ONLY substitute for Rendon.  The Lerners can afford him.  And we don't want him playing elsewhere in the NL East.  It's as simple as that.

Donaldson’s game isn’t much like Rendon’s.

I mean, it's like Rendon's in that he stands next to third base and hit home runs. Also, he breathes, and Rendon does that too.

But the grin. How do you replace that?

You can watch Rendon for free for two weeks each season. There is a free week of access to MLB Extra Innings on most cable systems for:
1) the first 7 days of the season
2) the first 7 days after the All Star break

I mean, this is actually pretty convenient for me, as I usually get the MLB TV package for the Angels, so I can watch Mike Trout.

I fail to see how DC traffic will compare to LA traffic.

LA traffic is just as bad if not worse.

I think Rendon is just not an East coast guy. I think you could tell in his demeanor and interviews that the game is not that important to him. He got a ring. He stayed for his contract. There is nothing that says he had to stay. Fans will be upset but players leave teams all the time. Very few HoFers stay on one team their entire career.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is in Anaheim, not Los Angeles. Maybe Rendon REALLY likes Disneyland, especially Goofy with that grin.

And in the playoffs. Oh wait, high priced position players don’t go to the playoffs. :mg:

Not much to say.  He likes the weather out there and feels the Angels are a family oriented organization.  The Angels' ownership promised him that there going to build a winning team.

In other words, he views baseball as a business and he took the most money.  Can't really hate him for that.

I don’t understand why they don’t just say that then, it’s almost always the most money. It’s ridiculous the reasons these guys make up.

Yep, it would be awesome if he would just say that.

Orange County traffic isn't exactly a picnic either.  On the other hand, it has the advantage of being slightly further from Los Angeles than is Los Angeles itself.

I have read most of the comments on Rendons departure and have yet to weigh in. He was an integral part of the team for seven years and the success of last season. His signing elsewhere was attributed to not wanting to accept deferred money. And that is his right. However , when someone is making 35 million a year ( more than any of us will make in a life time) you are talking about income that is multi-generational and not about only your children and grand children.

You have to compare Strasburgs loyalty to the Nats , team mates and ownership to Rendons rejection of the same. When Ryan Zimmermann signed his extension years ago one of his comments was "how much money do you need?" It is very telling the difference between those three individuals. I wish Rendon success but I have lost most of my respect for him as a person. Yes he was involved in the Nats Academy but that doesn't tell the whole story which only him ,Boras and the Lerners know.
