Good luck to Rendon. He got us a ring so he's good in my book.

Let's keep this open for 24 hours so folks can post their last thoughts.

As for attitude, I'd take Rendon's level-head and humor over Soto-lite's glamour-seeking any day of the week.  I think a good chunk of Rendon's success has to do with being oblivious to pressure.  I don't necessarily believe in a clutch skill, but I do believe that guys gag in a and underperform in clutch situations.  Rendon was immune to that.

disagree.  Like Chief, Anthony just wasn't someone I really liked, I mean he was great and I don't hate him and totally wish him well but he was just sort of, there.  I love Soto's emotion and passion, makes the game way more entertaining for me.

ok. To be clear, I was comparing Rendon to Soto-lite, who fled last winter after a great home run derby  and not Soto. Soto to me is the heir to Big Papi.

Great hitter, great defender, got himself paid after winning a ring.  Nothing but love for Rendon here.

Now, for the people who have 5 billion dollars and wouldn't write a damn check to keep a player who was the difference between winning the World Series and missing the playoffs...

I was wondering who you meant by that, the context threw me off

Why put a timer on it? Until we have something else happening this is it.

Or it can move tomorrow to the out of town scoreboard like the Bryce one did, which was fine

I forget the guy's name after he moved to Philly.  He's a shadow of Soto in terms of performance now, so i just call him Soto-lite.

Glad Rendon went to an American League team. Unless we're both in the world series we won't have to compete against him. Good luck to him.

Definitely.  There is that.  On MLB Network I believe they were saying that the Phillies were a dark horse candidate for Rendon, so it could have been much worse.  I wish him well too.

I'm hoping the Phillies overpay for Donaldson.

Mets were making moves
Braves were making moves
Phillies making moves
Nats resigned Strasburg who was still their own player until their previous contract allowed an opt out to rape the team their payroll. I am glad they resigned Stras but as usual, being cheap a couple years ago cost the team now.

3 games in May: May 11-13, Nats at Angels.

If you gave Stras same deal as Max I would say it woulda been worth it now.

This whole thing brings to mind questions about the culture and staff out there raised by the Skaggs matter that I haven't heard much further since organization members were reported to be involved. Funny how one things fade out of headlines, they can essentially become nonfactors in the collective consciousness

They have been saying that for years with Donaldson. And year after year he continues to rake and play elite defense.

Plus he is one of the most competetive guys in baseball and a great tram-mate.

He would be perfect until one of Kieboom or Garcia is ready.

They’ve been saying he’s 34 for years?

Kieboom will be ready sooner than the 4 years that Donaldson is going to want.

Give him 3 years at 25 mil with a 4th year option. By the time Kieboom or Garcia are ready he can play 1B.

Kieboom plays 2nd if we sign Donaldson (and maybe no matter what).  He made 4 errors in 10 games at 3B last year in the minors, there's no way we trust him at third.

One of the blogs I read this morning suggested that Howie could play third.  He did well there last year.

Sure but there are multiple teams bidding and it seems likely he will get 4 years.

He already has multiple 4 year deals. I'm betting an AAV over 25. Probably 27

I love Howie, but he needs to play 4 games a week, tops. And he's not great at 2nd, so I can't imagine him being good at 3rd.

No question.

He may even be asked to play 2B this year or next.
