It seems that mine is not the only notable retirement taking place. Anyone who's spent time in DC has had to have listened to Chris Core when he was part of Trumbull and Core on WMAL or his Core Values commentary on WTOP. You many not have listened in intentionally but maybe while in the car with your parents. A 51 year career in radio is astounding.

He's no Johnny Holliday.     :hysterical:

Core was okay but he did seem to be getting a bit curmudgeonly lately, probably time.

He mentioned something about his lawn being trampled by the kids nowadays.

A luxury of being retired during the pandemic, I suppose, as my job would not have been something I could do from home...I had my last haircut and shave on March 5, 2020.

I'm looking more and more like George Carlin everyday...not something I would've normally aspired to.

I saw George Carlin open for the Beach Boys at NIU in the fall of '71...I think...maybe '72.  Back in the Hippy Dippy Weatherman days...

Hard to believe he died more than 12 years ago...he had just turned 71...

I bought Wen clippers on Amazon, $27. 6-4-2 fade. I'm never going back to the barber.

Half retired in June. 24 hours a week. Mondays off. It's just about perfect.

12 years. Damn.

....and Dave McConnell, the station's longtime Capitol Hill reporter, who called it a career not too long ago.

The only times I've ever seen him are at the bar. I'm beginning to think he's just a drinking fan with a sports problem.  :D

Seems a reasonable way to kill time for a few months.  Especially since I'm in the doghouse at the moment, kill two birds.
