And I don't see a world Series title by their name.
Exactly (although they do have two straight NL East titles)!

Bump.  Now would be a nice time to announce an extension.

Maybe I'm naive, but I assume he's around for a while and he and the Lerners privately have an understanding and plan for his future.

I hope so, but give he only has about 4 months or so left on his contract, it would be nice to see them announce something soon.

They promised him an extra 50% for next year if he lets them keep what he would have been paid this year.

He has to wait 10 years to redeem them though.

It's because they are mostly deferred. They want to pay him 500 points up front and then 2 points a year for the next 250 years.

You tell 'em Mike.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/07/rob-manfred-reportedly-jumped-on-mike-rizzo-over-covid-testing-comments.html

For those asking whether the season will continue, just look at the priorities of the commissar per his reported reaction to someone whose team is affected by any glitch or delay or deviation from the agreed-upon protocols and is voicing concerns (especially since Rizzo quite possibly didn’t get an appropriate response in previous communications with MLB brass).

It reflects terribly on Manfred- they restarted the season with the agreement of the players based on a safety protocol which they are already unable to adhere to. They whole plan is based on frequent testing with relatively fast diagnosis so that players and possibly teams can be isolated and MLB can't even manage return to work testing

But the real problem for some evidently is someone daring to bring that up.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/07/09/even-pandemic-with-world-series-ring-mike-rizzo-gets-strung-along-by-nats/

Maybe it's Mike that's playin' hardball this time...a WS Champion GM can write his own ticket.  He's 59...maybe he want's a long term deal to take him into retirement.  Maybe he's had enough of the Lerner's and wants to build another winner somewhere else.

Svurgla has no idea...and neither do we.  His job is to sell newspapers...get views.  I guess he is doing his job...

As far as the Lerner's are concerned...it's shameful the way they are handling single game refunds.  Maybe they are posturing to sell the team...they have their ring now...why not...they aren't baseball people...they trade in properties...not people.  They let their golden boy walk...so there are no sacred cows.

I do know that whining about something we have no knowledge of or control over won't change anything...

Mike won't take deferred money. Nothing the Lerners can do.

If the Lerners want Rizzo, best to do so quickly and quietly. Otherwise, wouldn’t at all be surprised to see him helm the Mets with their new ownership

Extending Rizzo was more important than any player they could sign. Glad to see it.
