Cancelled tournaments v playing just before family in empty arenas.  Not sure the latter can't be done, although it does mean non-essential travel.

....

Another issue is the risk if even one player contracts the virus. So far two Utah Jazz players have tested positive. I'm sure the rest of the team will all get it, and I wouldn't be surprised if their recent opponents do as well.

Duke's athletic director serves on the NCAA Tournament committee. Got to think he knows what's coming and passed on the info to Vincent Price (seriously, Duke's president is named Vincent Price).

CNN reporting NCAA basketball (among other sports) is shut down.     And from the POST:

The NCAA has canceled its men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors on Thursday announced in a statement they had canceled the events, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships.

I used to work with a guy by that name also. Not the actor.

Where did their coach go? I can’t wait to hear all the whining from college coaches next fall about how the pandemic hurt their recruiting. Like it’s so important.

Yeah.  With the new arena opening in the fall I would have thought they’d go for a bigger name coach.

Duke-Kentucky from 1992 is on at 6.  It’s probably the best college basketball game ever played.

Albuquerque   ....   Long story   :)     In '82, there was a February 1 post mark required to have the opportunity to get tickets to the '83 final.     I went to the mailroom and asked for a February 1 post mark for my envelope.    I think I included a check for $160 for 4 tickets to the Semis and the Final.    Of course, we thought UVA (Sampson) was gonna be in the Final.     Well, I hit the lottery and got tickets.   My buddy lived in Salt Lake City so we made it a vacation.     Rented a mobile home in Salt Lake.   Drove to Albuquerque for 4 days (stayed at a truck stop).    Went to Vegas for a few days (Circus Circus RV Park) and then back to Salt Lake for 3 days of skiing at Snowbird.     Rough 11 or so days.     :mg:

We watched the end of that last night. My wife had never seen it and wanted to know whether Duke was going to win. I pointed out I wouldn’t have turned it on if Duke had lost!

I tried watching some of the games on tv yesterday but they kept breaking in for that coronavirus stuff.
