nats trivia
« Topic Start: November 20, 2019, 06:00:16 PM »
I had to put together a set of Nats trivia questions for a charity contest.  I'll put my questions below, and the answer to each in a spoiler (FYI - the spoiler is the thick black line; you can reveal what is underneath by hovering your mouse over it).  This set of questions proved to be more difficult than I thought, with no group scoring higher than 22 points and the low scoring 16.  All questions are 3 points for a correct answer except as marked.

I'm thinking that you may need some quick trivia qs, so feel free to copy, or if you come up with your own, post them in this thread.

1)  Identify the Bobblehead/ figurine.  1 point each - OK, everyone here gets 5 points.  I used:
a) Corbin
b) Scherzer (I used the 2019 300K bobblehead)
c) Jayson Werth (the gnome)
d) Rendon (tony 2 bags)
e) Sean Doolittle (2018 - not obi-Sean)

2) First Nats pitcher to throw a regular season pitch at Nats Park
a) Matt Chico
b) Livo
c) Lannan
d) Odalis Perez
e) Jordan Zimmermann
answer (d) - 3 lefties with a lot of starts on that team

3) Most saves career as a National from 2005 forward
a) Chad Cordero
b)Sean Doolittle
c) Rafael Soriano
d) Drew Storen
e) Blake Treinen
The first is still the most - (a), but doolittle is moving up

4) Match the player with the song associated with him (1 point each)
Songs: (a) Seven Nation Army; (b) Baby Shark; (c) Red Red Wine; (d) Werewolves of London; (e) Take On Me
Players: Michael Morse (e) ; Jayson Werth (d) ; Stephen Strasburg (a) ; Gerardo Parra (b) ; Kurt Suzuki (c)

5) This player had the 3d most pinch hits for the Nats in 2019, regular season:
a)  Matt Adams
b) Asdrubel Cabrera
c) Gerardo Parra
d) Adrian Sanchez
e) Andrew Stevenson

Of course, Howie had the most, so I wanted this one to be a bit more difficult
(e) Andrew Stevenson; I had to go the BRef for this one, but Parra is 2d at 9 and Stevenson was 8 for 19

6) In which month of 2019 did the Nats win the most games?
a) May b) June c) July d) August e) September
d - August; I think that one a good use of logic gets that answer

7) Led the 2019 in OBP with the Nats, min 100 PAs:
a) A-Cab
b) Eaton
c) Howie
d) Rendon
e) Soto
d) Tony Two-bags edged out Soto

8 ) Pitcher with the most appearances in 2019:
a)  Doolittle
b) Grace
c) Guerra
d) Rainey
e) Suero
e) Suero, although each grace appearance produced enough agony for a season

9) Which Nats pitchers had over 200 Ks in 2019 (2 points  for  each correct answer, 2 off for each incorrect answer):
a) Corbin
b) Doo
c) Anibal
d) Max
e) Stras
(a), (d), and (e) - some folks did not get Corbin

10) How many Nats players hit 15 or more home runs in 2019?
a) 5
b) 6
c) 7
d) 8
e) 9

(e) 9 - I think this was close to a record

redundant.  Or did you mean 2006 in order to exclude Cordero (the obvious answer).

I wanted to make it clear it did not include any Montreal saves or saves for the Senators 1.0 or 2.0.  just since the Expos moved here.

At the home opener, President Bush threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  I think Schneider caught it but not positive.

that's why I had to be so careful in wording the nats park first pitch question.  I did not want the Orioles exhibition or the ceremonial first pitch.
