Is  F-burg going to be the alt location for the 60 man pool?

I would assume there or Harrisburg.

I’m sure the size of the acts that Fredericksburg can attract will totally justify the stadium price tag

it will hold about 6k or so for events, so I'm sure they will have plenty of potential acts.  Think Wolftrap.

Wonder if they can get a deferral on the first $1 million payment due to the pandemic. I’m sure the Lerners will be willing to help the city out under the circumstances.  :hysterical:

if it's anything like the deal they tried to get with PWC, Fredricksburg tax payers are going to be paying for this one for a long time to come.

It’s $1 million per year but I forget how long.

$1.05 million for 30 years.

They were paying that regardless, but now they lose the offsetting tax and event revenue.  If the teams is forced to declare bankruptcy who knows what happens next.

It was really sad walking through the stadium, I miss baseball, and I can't wait to see a game there.

I was all excited about the PWC stadium when they announced the agreement. Looked great and would have been about 5 minutes from the house. But looks like the county dodged a bullet.

Sounds like they are. Sort of: https://www.fredericksburg.com/sports/watch-now-fredericksburg-nationals-fans-wait-on-a-season-that-might-not-come/article_42654dd8-5d26-5e56-87ab-c6d02a7995dd.html

Fredericksburg officials signed a 30-year lease with the team at an annual rent of $1.05 million. But the first installment isn’t due until the quarter after the facility in Celebrate Virginia South receives its “commencement date”—defined in the agreement as the time when it has both received its temporary certificate of occupancy and is “actually available for city events.” That may not come until 2021.

Yep, especially if you like country music. Acts like Cole Swindell, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Alan Jackson, Billy Currington, Travis Tritt, Dustin Lynch and Hank Williams Jr. have all played in Fredericksburg within the past couple of years. I would think they'll get even bigger acts now that they can offer more than a hole in the ground (which is basically what the Celebrate VA/After Hours venue was).

During the tour they were talking about how they had sold out of many of the corporate sponsorship opportunities, including the section of seats with waitress service in RF.  With the season now being cancelled, it will be interesting to see how much of their revenue they will need to refund, versus roll over to next year.

It's true.  Quantico is a strange beast...even in the Marine Corps world.

Unlike the Single-A Potomac Nationals, the Fredericksburg Nationals will compete at the Low-A level, but that should still give local fans a glimpse at potential future stars.

“It’s exciting to play a role in player development with the Nationals and to allow our fans to enjoy that,” Silber said. “At the level we are playing at, we expect the first opportunity for people to see some of the top draft picks is likely going to be with us in Fredericksburg.”

Interestring point about draft picks.  I still imagine that many of the rehab assignments will still be there rather than Wilmington or Harrisburg

Agreed.  I doubt we will see many rehab assignments at the low A level, but who knows?  Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised.
