I was watching the college football playoff show last night and blurbs about this kept scrolling across the screen. It says an investigation is underway and it also said the Nats were warned during the world series about whistling and various antics. Does anyone know what this means? The Nats were warned about the Astros? Or the Nats were personally warned about their antics?

Some of the reading I’ve done suggests that the Nats were warned of the Astros antics.

Found this picture on the Astros sub reddit. They really are a bunch of butthurt marsupials.

LoL. Let's see how we feel when it comes out that the Nats do something very similar.

With the Nationals losing 3 World Series games at home, as their batters swung at crap outside the strike zone, while staring at pitches down the middle?

They would have to all be drunk at the plate, if they were also being signaled about what type of pitch was coming.

Knowledge seems pretty widespread within the league it sounds like.

The Astros have a better road record than home record this season. I'm not sure that stealing signs works all that great.

And I didn't mean specifically in the series, just that a lot of teams try to "give themselves every advantage" as the ex-Astros pitcher said. Maybe not a camera in CF. but lesser, more borderline efforts.

There are reports that the Yankees even warned the Red Sox about it.

I'd feel the same way, clown. But I would hope they have more character than the Astros organization.

I had the thought that Cole’s reaction after Game 7 might have been related to him not liking the Astros org and their tactics. He didn’t start out in Houston, after all.
The entire organization is bad news. There are those who thought Cole was being a "bad teammate", when he may have been the only semi-honest person in the entire organization.

Looks like they were doing it this year
One would think they would continue doing it in 2018 and 2019 after it succeeded so well in 2017. The minimum penalty should be stripping them of the 2017 title and 2019 pennant and requiring them to take down any reference to those achievements, and banning their manager and others involved from baseball. This makes deflate-gate and Pete Rose betting seem like nothing.

The Nats used a set of 5 different signs in the World Series against the Astros, and they rotated signs after every single batter. So the Nats were absolutely warned about the possibility.

There's also a GIF of the change in Strasburg's delivery during Game 6:

I live for this stuff

Edit: here it is

Quote
Each pitcher had five sets of signs, and they could change them from game to game — or even batter to batter, if necessary. Using the set labeled No. 2, but worried the Astros were catching on? The pitcher could signal to the catcher to move to set No. 3.

some of the techniques:

Quote
Next came the way the Nats employed their signs, which was nontraditional. Rather than just use, say, the second sign the catcher put down, the Nats might “chase the two.” That meant the pitcher would watch for the catcher to put two fingers down, and then throw the pitch that corresponded to the following sign. Or they could play “outs plus one.” So if there was one out, the pitch would be the second sign the catcher put down. If there were no outs, it would be the first sign. “Strikes plus one” worked the same way.

There were the stories about at least one guy with camera getting thrown out on the road in different places, and I'd guess they're going to follow up on that

Say what you will about the Orioles, it’s pretty evident they haven’t been stealing signs the past couple of seasons.

Yeah because it would be a black mark on the team, our WS victory, and would likely lead to disciplinary action against the team.

Not sure I feel the same way. No one can ever take from me Game 7 night, staying up until 3am watching interviews and celebrations.
