MLB likes the Henry pick most: https://www.mlb.com/news/best-mlb-draft-pick-for-all-30-teams?t=mlb-draft-coverage

Cole Henry, RHP, LSU (2nd round)
When it comes to drafting and developing pitching prospects, the Nationals are known to have a type -- big, strong guys with power stuff who can throw strikes and still have room to improve. Henry, a 6-foot-4, 211-pound Draft-eligible sophomore, fits that description to a T with his blend of size, stuff and control, though he did battle injuries in both of his LSU campaigns.

Per mlb:  10 UDFA to watch:

https://www.mlb.com/news/2020-mlb-non-drafted-free-agents
$20,000 to sign is really nothing.

Sounds like the plan is for MLB to go from six minor league teams to four?  For now they will have enough players from prior drafts to stock teams but in the future 5 players from the draft and some guys from Latin America won't be enough to keep up.  Looks like they would need to pay more than $20K to get guys to sign.

What are those guys going to do, stock shelves?

It'll take a year or two to even out, because a lot of guys who are eligible will go back to school, but when everyone ends up being a senior again, they don't really have much choice but to take whatever is offered - if they want to make the major leagues.

They could go play in the KBO or NBP. The NPB especially would love to get some mid 90s throwing relievers. All they have to do is alter their rules slightly, and teams would probably give them 200K a year

No NPB team is going to sign a guy who was not drafted ( by MLB) to play in the NPB. NPB is considered at least level to Triple A here and maybe even a little better.  Maybe one of their minor league teams but they only have one level.  Doesn't seem likely to me they would want to invest in players who might never make it there and who probably if they do well will want to come back here.

KBO is probably more like Double A.  So maybe they would take a chance but right now they are limited to 2 foreign players I believe.  Why take an unproven guy when you can sign a former MLB or Triple A guy?

20k plus sub minimum wage for years to come- college for high school seniors or a real job those graduating both sound like better alternatives

Right, nobody in those leagues is paying a 6th rounder $200,000. The top of the 6th round in 2019 was worth $300K in MLB by slot value.

Maybe those guys are faced with the choice of like $25,000 for MLB or $75,000 for an overseas league. And that's probably like the top 5 guys. who went undrafted in the first place because they wanted $1 million not to go back to school.

Seems like MLB is pretty much fine with that, although I think there will probably be some kind of total pool like the International pool. Like you have 5 rounds, then teams each have $500K for anything that exceed a de minimis bonus. Give that to one guy, split among a few guys, etc. Sign the rest for $25K apiece.

More undrafted high school guys will end up in college--don't think that's really a bad thing.  The quality of college ball has improved over the years and that would help it continue.

Next year will be interesting- what do colleges do with seniors who want to stay for another year, I can’t see saying yes being good for the locker room since that will cost incoming guys playing time, and that’s if the schools even want scholarship athletes in a non-revenue sport coming back. If football generates less money than planned on, does an expensive sport like base baseball get the ax?

Interesting info regarding Infante:

The slot value for selection No. 71 was $884,000, but Infante said the Nationals agreed to pay him “$300,000 over slot.”

Not sure is anyone has posted this.  Nats have signed 3 guys.  Several teams have signed more.  Maybe they are looking for quality.  Or perhaps LAC has made its way onto the latest social network platforms.  But we got another Gio!!!!!!!!

D1 Baseball teams get 11.7 scholarships to divvy up (resulting in a lot of partial scholarships or non-scholarships to reserve scholarships for kids that actually need it). Do agree that baseball programs could be a target, but not based on scholarships. Same amount of scholarships no matter what. Returning players with eligibility would be up to the coach who’s concern is winning

I think any men’s team with with a decent number of scholarships (lax and track are probably in the same boat As baseball) are in trouble. Brown tried to cut track but had to back down, baseball just seems like an easier target
