He'd apparently been doing side work for quite a while, but yeah.  But why not just teach Soto then? Pederson's a better OF, and it would save wear and tear on Soto to not play OF some days - unless the concern is messing with your best hitter's groove, which might not show up on the stat sheet but matters for some guys.
Does anyone believe in Soto's defensive improvement?

Do I believe he's a gold glove quality outfielder? No.

Do I believe he improved enough to be serviceable in LF? Yes. And probably will be for several years.

But personally, I think he'd be better off moved to first base. I think he'd like it a lot better too. He seems to like interacting with other players and first is the place to do it.

Then we could sign Betts/Ozuna/Castellanos/Springer/Pederson to a deal to play RF (or LF and keep Eaton in RF).

They have the Astros winning almost a 100 games. Mets winning the East. Reds winning the Central. Uh. Ok.

None of that seems unreasonable

JB Shuck is another of those guys who it's fine to have around in AAA, but God help you if he ever needs to play in the majors.  The interesting thing with him is that he now fancies himself a pitcher and is apparently going to try to be a AAAA pitcher as well as a AAAA outfielder.

The writers and broadcasters are thrilled, as a Shuck and Jive battery combo is one piece away

It's times like these that I miss Herman Cain saying "shucky-ducky."

Juan Soto went up to 11 on MLB Network top 100 players. Up from 36 last year. Max dropped from 5 to 14. Rendon jumped from 21 to 6.

Seems high. I think he will have a big year offensively.

Wonder how many of the 32 players ahead of Bryce make his level of money?

CBP will remain CBP, and good management should help the lineup.  Glad the Nats bullpen got attention

McCutchen being healthy should help Harper a lot, and Hoskins won't be as bad as he was this past year. Didi is a good-hitting SS especially in CBP.

Their offense is going to be dangerous, but their pitching sucks ass. Nats own Wheeler.

Zuck tweets that Rizzo says 3b is Kieboom’s job to lose and that they will not be trading for a 3b

Kieboom is a total wild card.  He struggled in a cup of coffee last year, but so did Mike Trout famously in his first cup of coffee.  That's not to say Kieboom will be Mike Trout, but the Nats do seem to have a solid amount of confidence in him.  I think he could have a Robles-level rookie year, where he's a solid starter.  That isn't going to replace Rendon, but you have to hope for that difference to be made up elsewhere (bullpen, Robles improving, Turner taking his game to another level with a healthy finer, etc).

I was driving around yesterday and was thinking what upgraded performances could we hope for to make up for Rendons output offensively. I believe Turner and Robles are the key with Castro playing a secondary role. Kendrick, Cabrerra will regress due to age and playing time and Eaton and Soto will stay the same.

we have plenty of backup options if Kieboom doesn't work out, but I agree with the idea of giving him the first shot at the starting job.

I don't even think you need offense to make up for Rendon- if the bullpen isn't historically bad, you can win with less offense

I'm mindfacting, but I'm guessing Rendon was worth as many wins as the bullpen blew last year.

No. Based on what some posters said about the pen blowing games last year it was another 20-30 games. Nats should have won 120 games.  :hysterical:

Kieboom will get his chance in s/t but AssCab will be waiting in the wings.
