Rendon and Stras both seem like guys who will want this over in the coming few weeks.  They don't want to be like Harper and Machado.

that was their consensus.  If that's what he wants then it seems the only obstacles to getting a deal done would be if the Nats want to pay deferred money, and if Rendon really doesn't want to be here.

Rather than look for a long-term deal that lasts into his late 30s, they think he's more interested in a deal in the range of five years, presumably for a higher average annual salary. In fact, some executives believe that Rendon's forthcoming contract could establish a record for highest annual value.

it is 5:30 AM.  If this isn't done by 6 AM, then the Nats are idiots.

Looking at the Olney report, 5 @ 35MM per year would set an AAV record. Maybe the hold up is that they are trying to do both Stras and  Rendon at the same time and what one gets impacts the other.
