not in terms of AAV, but he wanted one contract that would cover the rest of his playing days.

He didn’t give a crap about arcane accounting terms or long term financial security, he wanted to set the record for biggest contract. And he only had the record for a few days.

I genuinely dont believe we will see a contract bigger than Trout's for a long long time.

Trout is so beyond the player that Harper is it is insane.

Brian Dozier was born in Fulton, Mississippi.

Kendrick can platoon with Ryan imo for 1B. Howie said this city and team restored his love for baseball so I could easily see him staying. He will end his legacy as a great player in the city that finally gave him a championship. I hope we find a way to bring back the key guys.

I honestly see a lot of the hispanic players leaving (Dozier/Cabrera/Parra/Gomes). Hired mercenaries that got us over the hump. If Parra goes does that mean Baby Shark dies in 2019?

You are correct, I didnt mean Dozier. I was thinking of Parra Gomes and Cabrera. Although he definitely partied like one

I dont see anyway to keep Hudson if you keep Stras and Rendon. I am big on signing Wilmer Flores and one of the Houston Catchers. If we lose Stras, would love us to take a flier on fixing Michael Wacha.

Hopefully lol. That song is awful. It had its time and place. If he sticks around I'm fine with him keeping the music as his walk up. But if he goes... then the song needs to go too.

Haha I'm not sure what context you call that song "awful."  It's a song for little kids.  It seems pretty genius in that context because they love it.  I mean in what context do you seriously evaluate a song like that haha?  "The lyrics are a little repetitive and shallow and the instrumentals are lacking."

I honestly had no idea Michael A Taylor began his career as an infielder....I wonder if he or the Nats would ever revisit that again?

I thought the whole thing was magical. The song itself wasn't what it was all about, It was everything else that came because of that song. I for one will miss it.

he's bad, which explains why they had him as Michael Jackson when they did 80's night a few years ago

we have about $83 million in cap space according to Cots.   Adding up what you have I get $87 million.  And we still need a back-up catcher, 2B, and probably another bullpen arm.

IMHO, Rendon is the priority.  I'm not going to complain if we re-sign Strasburg, but letting him go might make the most baseball-sense to enable us to fill in some other holes.  I don't think we bring back Kendrick.
I have absolutely no idea why fans would approve the idea of getting under the salary cap.
The family is worth $5.5B and Ted Lerner is the second richest owner in baseball. Winning the WS assures many millions in profit for several years. What's a few million dollars penalty?
Sign 'em all, the owners can certainly afford it, and the fans deserve it.

I was annoyed by it at first then the Nats kept winning and it became a thing and now I love it!

It gave the team some much-needed character for both local and national media coverage and broader appeal for casual fans.

It’s like Take On Me. Whenever I hear that song it always reminds me of that magical 2012 season when it was the first time that we were actually a good team after suffering through the awful years. While I hated the Game 5 gut punch, with the passage of time I remember more of the fun and excitement of 2012 and think less about how it ended. I expect that for the rest of my life, I’ll  always be reminded of the 2019 team whenever I hear Baby Shark. And I will smile.

Just to be nitpicky, Gomes is not Hispanic either. Many Portuguese-Americans and Brazilian-Americans get annoyed when they are lumped in with Hispanics, kind of like lumping Ukrainians in with Russians. Latino is probably fine, since Brazil is considered part of Latin America. Of course, so is Haiti, since French is also a Romance language, but I don't think I've ever heard of a Haitian being described as Latino.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. Back to the baby sharks?

So how about this: Let Stephen and Tony both walk. Sign Wheeler and Castellanos. Next season, throw all the money at Mookie Betts

Dont hate that idea. but we would have to get 1 more big FA besides those two this year. Like a Moustakas or Grandal
