https://blogs.fangraphs.com/zack-wheeler-is-good-but-not-as-good-as-he-could-be/

I think Zack Wheeler is a slight fix away from being an ace.

He strikes me, like Cole was, a guy who could go from pretty good to stud with the Stros.

With no rendon and stras next season. Nats will be like the Cleveland Cavaliers without Lebron James  :mg:

amazing so far how little reporting there has been on any FA negotiations/interest, not just about the Nats but league wide.  About all I've heard is that Stanton is publicly lobbying the Yankees to sign Cole and Strasburg.

Because we aren't likely to break the bank to sign another SP after we bring Stras back.  If we do, that signals we have no shot to retain Rendon.

Rendons kid just turned 1. Probably not going to base much of the decision on schools
Did not say that, but ok. I was saying he is going to be living probably where he signs next. Thats all because his kid will be near school age kinda like what Stras just did this season.

They got great private schools in every MLB city.

Maybe I'm a geek, but I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the Scherzer signing was announced. I looked at my wife and told her I couldn't believe it and explained who he was and what this meant.

Means even more now that he's given us so many memories and a WS championship.

Hoping something similar happens with Anthony and I have been very critical of his nonchalant attitude over the years...all smiles.

Let's go defend this thing...make someone else take it.

Also...no mention of us on MLBTR when they wrote of Castellanos. Hed be an awesome signing if you can't keep Rendon just for what he can do with his bat... obviously you'd have to figure out who plays where.

But...I think he's signed before anyone knows what Anthony will do.

It would be kind of cool if the mods dug up some of the old threads for when we signed Scherzer, or extended Stras, or Zim, ect.

Once again, im talking about when the season is over. Players dont like pulling their kids out of school to go back to their home city. Alot of them will choose a city on if they can see themselves living there all year. I am not talking about quality of schools, lol. you keep inferring that. My point is way simplier. I seen articles by players wives many times talk about this aspect of their life that is disrupting, I am sure thats why Stras moved to DC because his daughter is school age now. So I think Anthony may permanently live in the next city he signs with. Doesnt offer any glimpse into what city that is. Just a point.

Zobrist could be a cheap and versatile veteran to fill the gap of the departing vets.

I'd also love to trade for Roberto Perez of the indians and go with him starting about 120 games and Suzuki starting 40

So the dude signing a long term deal is going to live in the city he signs a long term deal in.

I am shocked no numbers have been dropped by Boras yet. Usually he would have leaked something by now just to f up the market.

Why are you shocked by this? Nothing is going to happen until the winter meetings.

Winter meetings aint what they used to be, I figured he would put it out there to drive up the price depending on who sets the market. Most of these guys wont sign till Jan anyway. But lots of Harper stuff leaked right away.

He wears man capri pants. At least, they're claimed to be the man version.

Wait, does he still want to throw at Bryce?
