Apparently Strasburg was tipping in the most classic way possible: it was possible to see him switching the grip in his glove when going from a FB to breaking ball grip right after taking the sign.  That's an issue that sometimes crops up midseason for guys because of small variations in pre-motion routine that nobody normally cares about until it leads to problems. 

How a guy stands or what he does with his glove when he's taking the sign isn't like the delivery, where pitching coaches are constantly watching for any tiny change.   If you watch guys throughout the season, you'll see some variance.

True. The delivery is what I always look for. Some pitchers have a different arm angle or leg kick when switching pitches. I'm glad Stras figured it out and stopped the Astros in their tracks!
