I'm traveling for work this week and have been for about 10 days on a shoot. I'm in corporate housing with my bosses. We had the game on after 12 hours on set and were having a huge meeting going over stuff. They were stealing glances while I was half in the meeting and half out. I basically had to internalize all the emotions but was just so content watching these freaking guys do it.
After the game my dad called me and I'm pretty sure he was crying. We spent like 5 straight years going down for spring training from 2007-2012 to watch the Nats for a week. We went to so many games together. We both talked about how we saw Strasburg's first ever spring training start, his first MLB start, and now just watched him win a World Series. We watched Jose Vidro, to Adam Dunn, to Nyjer Morgan, Elijah Dukes, Brian Schneider, Bryce Harper, to every guy that played in so many heartbreaking games and so many bad seasons. Now we just saw these guys do it.
The journey is so worth it.
